North-east residents views sought on new taxi chargesAberdeenshire Council has consulted with the trade and developed a scale for the public’s consideration which represents a 3 per cent increase on the current arrangements.
The consultation, which ends on July 1, is being conducted via Survey Monkey, with email responses also being accepted.
Among the proposed new charges which would come into effect on September 1, 2020 are:
Exclusive Hire
For the first 880 yards or uncompleted part thereof - £2.70
For each succeeding 1/11th part of a mile (6am – 10pm and 10pm – 6am and public holidays) - £0.20
For each succeeding 1/11th part of a mile (Christmas/New Year) - £0.30
Surcharges
Monday – Thursday 10pm - 6am for the first 880 yards or uncompleted part thereof - £3.70
Between 10pm on Fridays and 6am on Mondays for the first 880 yards or uncompleted part thereof - £3.70
Between 6am – 10pm on Public Holidays for the first 880 yards or uncompleted part thereof -£3.70
Christmas/New Year Supplement for the first 880 yards or uncompleted part thereof - £4.00
Waiting time per 10 seconds (6am - 10pm, 10pm – 6am, weekends and Christmas/New Year) - £0.10
Booking Fee – General - £0.50The changes also include an amendment to the airport charge which would allow taxi drivers to recoup the full cost of pick-ups /drop-offs should this change during the lifetime of the fare scale and also an increase in terms of the unacceptable mess charge which may be applied from £50 to £100.
