Taxi driver 'sprayed with substance' during robbery in Folkestone

A taxi driver required emergency treatment after thieves sprayed him with an unknown substance during a robbery.

Police are appealing for information after the alleged attack in Folkestone last night.

The incident occurred after the driver picked up two men from Station Road in Lyminge shortly after 11pm.

When the car reached the Roman Way area of Folkestone, one of the men sprayed the driver with an unknown substance, before stealing his takings.

Police, ambulance and fire services attended the scene shortly after the incident but the suspects had left.

The taxi driver was treated at the scene, but his injuries are not believed to be serious.

One of the suspects is white, between 20 and 25 years old, around 5ft 9ins and spoke with an Irish accent.

The second man is also white and of a similar age, around 5ft 7ins, with an English accent and wearing a black hoodie and sunglasses.
