the bp garage in dundee is advertising diesel at 100.9 per litre, not good news for dundee cabbies, many are already feeling the pinch with having to hand out fines because of the no smoking rule,

have to say unless they have a Police Warrant card, I would have told them to F off, they could have been anyone, as I see it the only folk who are entitled to detain you are the Police (perhaps the forces) if the council want to Police this, they should use the Police, not some jumped up power mad [edited by admin] on £12k a year.

My response would have been, sorry but I'm away, write out yer bloody ticket, and send it to the address you can obtain from dvlc, they really heva gone too far, even the non smokers are not happy, it's an invasion of civil rights!!!!

I think whats more worrying, is what will replace the lost tax revenue, not income tax, as that is a vote loser, I know I bet they'll introduce another stealth tax aimed at the motorist, under some kinda green is good banner, when in rewality they give didly squat about the environment.

It confused me as well, but Mr Peebee was responding to the link on the first post. 8-[

Mr Peebee I'm honoured, yes thinking of it I was responding to the link.

Just to add I'm in favour of banning smoking in public places (and I smoke) It's the extent of the ban I object too, Lorry Drivers, taxi drivers, van drivers, sole operator business' all cannot smoke in thir own vehicle, my brother in law works from home, he can't smoke either, yet co car drivers whilst working are free to smoke, whats the difference? (apart from it being harder to Police)

with regard to council chaps detaining the driver and his daughter, I advise anyone only to stop and talk to Police, afterall these chaps could be anyone, how hard is it to buy a blue van, and a id card, be carefull as the scammers may use this opportunity to fleece or rob you, not a court in the land will object if you drive away from these folk, if they are genuine, then they will still prosecute, it will not make any difference if thewy detain you or not.

Paul it's because the edit/delete system was abused by some ex-members in the past.

When they lost an argument on a particular thread they then deleted their posts and made the threads look daft and impossible to follow.

As is the case with all things, the odd tossers spoils it for the rest.

Best bet is to preview the post before you submit it.

IC fully understand, have and still do moderate hifi fora, and got involved in many points scoring *Ahem* debates. Moderating, who'd have it, stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Have to say mod/admin on this site is well done, and top class, thanks!!!!

Anyway its nice that you guys and girls accept me, and as for moerating and admin yes i agree this is a well kept forum and good on you folks for keeping it that way as i know how hard it can be at times as i personally moderate on a very popular limo forum, and no i wont name it as i have respect for this forum too :)

IIRC, only a uniformed officer can arrest you anyway. Your entitled to refuse to stop, but inform them your going to make your way to the nearest Police Station.
Same goes for an unmarked car with plain clothes officer, refuse but inform them you'll make your way as above.
Only (in England anyway) a police/Customs officer can make an arrest.
Like the "community" speed enforcement bod's, they cant do you for speeding.
