Suspect there's something we're not being told here [-(

Plenty of comments on the Sentinel's website saying it's a load of garbage. I'm saying nothing, but at the very least I suspect there are important facts being withheld :-#

Staffordshire Police are investigating

This is the shocking photo of a mother-of-four who says she was punched in the face by a taxi driver - after leaving her mobile phone in the cab.

Bianca Butler, from Blurton, had been dropped off in a taxi at her friend's house on Harrowby Road, in Meir, when she realised she had left the mobile phone and her handbag in the car.

The 26-year-old rang the taxi firm and agreed to pay the £10 fee for the taxi to return with her belongings.

But Bianca says when the cabbie arrived he got out of the vehicle and punched her in the face causing her to fall to the floor and then stamped on her.

And when she was able to get up and retrieve her belongings from the taxi, she says the driver then drove off and threw her handbag out of the window.

She said: "I had gone to my friend's house in Meir when I realised I had left my phone and bag in the taxi. It was stuff I needed back as my whole life is on that phone.

"I rang the firm and asked if they could drop the phone off back to me. The guy had a bit of an attitude and said it would be a tenner which I was OK with.

"The taxi driver rang me to say he was outside and I told him I was coming. When I went outside the driver got out of the taxi, punched me in the face, and I fell to the floor. He then stomped on my face.

"I asked what that was all about and then tried to get my stuff out of the taxi. But while I was half in and half out of the car he put his foot down and I fell out of the taxi. It all happened in a flash. I couldn't see a thing.

"He chucked my stuff out of the car and drove off. Someone who witnessed the attack picked me up off the floor and took me into their house and cleaned me up and I went home."

ianca says she thought she was going to 'lose her life' during the attack at 9pm on Friday, September 25. She has been left with a black eye and a bruised face and was still on a drip at the Royal Stoke University Hospital earlier this week.

She added: "I was petrified. I thought I was going to lose my life.

"I was so shocked by it, it broke my heart. I'm really wary of people now, I won't even walk the streets on my own anymore. It's really knocked my confidence and I won't be going out again.

"I still don't know why the driver attacked me and I don't have a clue why he was so angry. I've always used this taxi firm, but I won't be anymore."

Bianca says she has reported the attack to the taxi company. The firm has told StokeonTrentLive that it was not aware of the incident and had not received any complaints.

She added: "Something needs to be done, he needs to lose his job as he could do this to somebody else and that's why I've reported it to the police."

Staffordshire Police are appealing for witnesses.

A spokesman said: "A report of an assault has been made to police. The incident took place on Friday at approximately 9pm on Harrowby Road, in Meir. A woman suffered facial injuries."

Anyone with any information about the attack should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 790 of September 26.

How could the driver ring her when he was outside as her phone had been left in the TAXI/private hire car?

She must have used her friends phone. Something definitely not right. Surely she would have called the police straight away? A black eye and bruising and she is/was on a drip ????

A court would consider the credibility of the lady's statement, and the statement of the driver.

Clearly we haven't heard from the driver, but the account from the lady, to those of us in the trade, don't add up.

I will leave it at that.
