Police arrest woman over arson in Hove
A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a car was torched in the early hours.
Police cordoned off the burnt-out remains of a BMW and a taxi in Goldstone Crescent, Hove, following the incident this morning.
Officers were called to the scene alongside fire crews shortly after 2am to reports of two parked cars on fire.
They quickly established that one of the vehicles had been set alight deliberately and the fierce flames had spread to the second car.
The blaze was quickly extinguished by fire crews and an arson investigation began.
Within an hour of police being called to the site of the fire, a car was stopped in Eastbourne in connection with the incident and three people were arrested.
A man and a woman were detained on suspicion of arson, while another woman was taken into custody on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
All three remained in police custody as of 2pm today.
Residents living in Goldstone Crescent woke up to a scene of destruction.
The BMW and the taxi were wrecked in the blaze. The open bonnets of both vehicles revealed the melted engines beneath.

Police placed a cordon around the two cars and investigators remained at the scene throughout this morning.
The force is now appealing for any witnesses to come forward as officer try to establish what happened.
A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: “Police investigating the matter want to hear from anyone who was in the area of Goldstone Crescent at the time of the fire.
“They particularly want to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time, or who may have any CCTV or doorbell cameras that may have captured any relevant footage.
