Another Merc :-o

Not quite as bad as the Manc Uber the other day, but not a good look for the HC side of the trade :?

(Assuming, of course, it was being used legitimately. Could have been stolen, or whatever, which might explain running the red light.)

These pictures show the devastation caused after a Mercedes driver "blasted through" a red traffic light at one of Derby's busiest junctions.

Derbyshire police say the actions of the driver resulted in a six-car pile up on Monday morning around 11am.

It happened at the junction of Burton Road and Warwick Avenue, in Littleover, and all three emergency services were in attendance.

According to the Derbyshire Roads Police Unit, the Mercedes was operating as a hackney carriage.

Thankfully, there were only minor injuries despite the severe damage sustained to some of the vehicles involved.

There was also damage to street furniture with the crash appearing to cause significant damage to a set of traffic lights.

Police said the driver would soon have to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court for the part they played in the crash.

The Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit tweeted: "Mercedes operating as hackney carriage blasts through a red light at one of the busiest junctions in the city - causes a 6 car pile up.

"Minor injuries to multiple vehicle occupants. Taxi for one to the Magistrates Court please..."

Not sure police should really be stating stuff like that in a public place - isn't that pre-empting the court case?

Anyway, not stated in the article, but definitely an Erewash plate, and definitely an HC, as shown by the full-res version of the photo here:

No they shouldn't, but maybe the driver has admitted the offence in interview.
