Police have made a plea through the media for information regarding an incident of racial abuse.

Devon and Cornwall Police investigators have admitted they have not released a CCTV still of a person they wanted to speak to in connection with the incident for nearly 11 months.

According to police they are now making the image public "after exhausting all other options to trace an offender who made a racist comment to a taxi driver Plymouth."

The incident is alleged to have taken place at around 3.30am on Sunday February 9, 2020 on Pike Road, Efford.

Investigators say the taxi driver was racially abused by a man who then threw the driver's hat at him.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police have been investigating the incident over the last few months and are now appealing to the public for help.

"Officers would particularly like to speak to the man pictured because he may have vital information which could assist their enquiries."

Anyone who knows the identity of the man, or has any other information which could assist their investigation, is asked to phone 101 or email 101@dc.police.uk quoting crime reference number, CR/011895/20.

Wonder why they're still pursuing what seems like a relatively minor incident almost 11 months after the event, and why it's taken them all that time to issue the photo :?

Shameful. [-X

Clearly the police had filed it under 'Bin' and only when people started asking questions did they have to dig it out.
