In a way this is a non-story, but as is often the case she seems to be blaming the driver, but certainly not clear whether he was to blame. Doon, 58, was left with a scar above her eyebrow as she was hurled against the taxi’s central divide and smashed her face on the card machine. The actress — who plays boozy neighbour Cathy in the BBC comedy — also suffered damaged ribs when the cabbie “hit traffic lights at speed” before halting. Doon said: “I recently had a car accident. Everybody please wear seat-belts in the back of black cabs, because I was in the back doing my first job in five months, and I stupidly didn’t have mine on. “I smashed into the card machine and partition. I’m very lucky to only have a scar above my eyebrow but my ribs are in agony.” It’s understood the accident happened in London a few weeks ago. Doon, of Hastings, East Sussex, said chilly dips in the sea have helped her recover. Hailing the benefits of winter swimming on the My Time Capsule podcast, she said: “It has helped with the excruciating rib pain.” Doon, who starred in this year’s Highlands-set Two Doors Down Christmas special, also revealed playing her lairy neighbour character left her crocked. The mum of three said: “Being Cathy for 12 hours, holding a cigarette and drink, I had bad shoulder pain after that. I needed a massage.” And she admitted she can’t wait to see the back of 2020, saying: “It has been great for people finding nature, empathy and helping those around us. “But in terms of our profession it has been terrible and likewise for mental health.” |

So she 'split head open' but claims she is very lucky to have 'only a scar' above her eyebrow? Exaggeration, much? Quote: ...when the cabbie “hit traffic lights at speed” before halting. So makes it sound like it was the driver's fault. On the other hand she admits it was partly her fault for not wearing her seatbelt. But no word of any action against the driver or insurance claim, so how knows. Of course, there could be a claim but it's just not mentioned in the article. Anyway, I'd never heard of this actress or the Two Doors Down sitcom before reading this. And I'm guessing the program may only be shown on BBC Scotland, so chances are the average reader on here will never have heard of them either. |

A similar thing happened to me a few years ago when a car cut across my path forcing me to brake, I took the guy to the local A&E and no claim was made. I spoke to my broker (off the record) and he informed me that I would have been liable if I didn’t have the details of the other vehicle, another reason to have a decent dashcam. |
