Apologies for sounding a tad thick today, but could someone explain why Edinburgh Council allowed meters to be changed whilst people could still appeal against it? :-k

I did kinda wonder that myself. It may be usual practice in edinburgh, the whole place seems pretty strange really.

Perhaps we should run a poll as to what's the biggest balls up here.

Is it authorising a tariff change within an appeal period, or is it suggesting to drivers that they can use the illegal tariff as long as they give a 7% discount?

Talk about digging a hole. [-(

A certain driver of a street car, who lives in Cramond. Objected to the new tarriff because it did not include the £1 charge at the airport.

We can charge 60p, as that is already on the tarriff sheet, so he is really only complaining about 40p.

He made his complaint to the Scottish Traffic Commissioner , obviously after getting no success complaining to the council.

It gets better.

This same gentleman, is due up at the council, for overcharging at the airport already. It is alledged that he was caught putting £4 in extras on his meter, for a fair into town.

you may enjoy a good rogering but most of us dont .

as for the extras how do you know if he overcharged or not ?
or is this youre usual pish... jumping on a guy who simply used his rights as allowed under the law..... the council tried to rip us off..... and you defend them, pathetic .

Imagine being so inured you actually try and defend a system that turns you into a slave.

We have Captain Cab on one side who tells us everyone who pays 40k for a plate is a “Mug”. Then wants everyone to pay it because it’s not a cartel it’s just a lot of happy “mugs” with 40K. Then we have Ross the defender of everything with the word “Taxi” written on it, taxi driver, taxi plate, taxi tariff, taxi T shirt, taxi jumper, taxi tyre on and on and on. Hasn’t a fu***** clue who he’s fighting for but hey who needs to know, he’s a “taxi driver” and bloody barking into the bargain.
