The incident happened at about 10pm yesterday (Wednesday, January 27) Det Sgt Kath Cussans, of East CID, said: “This was a distressing incident for the victim who is fortunate he was not more seriously injured. I would appeal to anyone who has any information, witnessed the assault or who saw anything suspicious in the area of either Bury Road in Rawtenstall or Towneley Park in Burnley, to get in touch.” The two taxi passengers were described as a woman in her early 20s, white, skinny build with black hair, wearing dark clothing. The man who got in the taxi with her is described as white, around 20-23 years of age, slim build, short dark hair wearing dark tracksuit bottoms with a dark hooded jacket.
