The traffic commissioner has changed the fairs for the borders she has said that we cannot charge extras until midnight on any day due to the fact that if we where to put them on at 6pm and all weekend we would have the most expensive taxi fairs in the Scotland they would have started at £3.00 so now they are to start at £2.00 until midnight then £3.00 to 6 am
the meter also will click 10p every 120 meters, it should be yards as we still run in miles???? and the speedo runs in miles per hour and the mileomiter s the same

Hasn't someone got to be the dearest in Scotland? So that's a pretty poor reason. :?

But whatever happened to councils knowing best?

Sussex, in your vast experience, have you ever known a council to increase a fare tarrif without being asked? I haven't.

Of course councils must decide, but my point is that the un-elected Traffic Commissioner is deciding.

Echoes of a taxi tsar there methinks - so there may in future be more unelected bods deciding things.

Mind you, I doubt of the TC in Scotland knows any more about the trade than most councils, whereas the idea of a tsar is to provide a more specialist regulator.
