Can't recall ever reading of such an operation specifically targeting drug-driving, at least outside Merseyside?

(By the way, just assuming it's a PHD who tested positive, and I'm not sure if that's his vehicle in the photo.)

Blackburn taxi driver tests positive for cocaine and cannabis - while working

A TAXI driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving following a targeted operation between the police and council.

On Saturday, police in Blackburn, along with taxi licensing officers from Blackburn with Darwen Council carried out a drug-drive stop.

Approximately 20 taxis were stopped with one driver testing positive for cocaine and cannabis - while working.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Response officers have tonight carried out a multi-agency operation with Blackburn Council taxi licensing officers.

"Around 20 taxis were stopped, four drug searches were carried out and sadly a taxi driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after failing a roadside drug test for cocaine and cannabis whilst working.

"A really positive result for keeping your roads and community safe."

Well done to the powers that be for these checks.

I suspect all of us support these kind of checks rather than the wearing your badge/bulb gone checks.

Clearly drugs is a massive problem in society, and as the taxi/PH trade is a part of that society we need to be checked from time to time.

They would not be required if we did not have undesirables licenced by Councils.
