'What is he doing?' Taxi boss' shock as biker yob launches baseball bat attack on cab office windows

A taxi boss has spoken of the moment a biker pulled up outside of his cab office and launched a baseball attack on his windows.

The "random" attack on Teesside Cars, in Dovecot Street, Stockton, then saw the crazed biker turn on nearby Iffy's Halal Takeaway. Cleveland Police has confirmed they are still looking for the suspect.

Taxi firm manager, Faz Ali, said he witnessed the incident unfold from behind the glass of the office and couldn't believe his eyes.

Faz said: "When my shift started I was talking to the lad who worked overnight. I looked out the window and saw a motorbike in the middle of the road. He (the biker) pulled out this wooden baseball bat and he came over and broke the windows and then went across the road and did the same to the takeaway shop.

"I stood there and thought, 'what is he doing?' By the time we had reacted, he had gone. We couldn't chase after him because we would've had to go around the back of the street to get out (where the entrance/exit is). He just jumped on his motorbike and went.

"We don't know why it happened, it was completely random. We have no ties to the shop across the road either, so it feels like there is no connection. The police have visited and watched through the CCTV footage too."

Police were called and officers scoured the area for the man, but to no avail.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: "Police received a call at 5.53am on Sunday, April 24 reporting windows at Teesside Cars had just been smashed by a male believed to have been on a motorcycle. The same male had reportedly also broken windows at a nearby take-away business then ridden off.

"Officers conducted an area search but sadly this was negative. CCTV and other enquiries are on-going and anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number quoting ref 068048. If you don’t want to speak to police, information can be passed anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by phoning 0800 555 111."

These things are never random.

It was either targeted, or the bat man got the wrong venue.
