Incident probably not that unusual in the grand scheme of things, but interesting how it's being portrayed as the woman 'collinding' with the taxi, thus framing it as her fault, rather than the driving 'mowing down' the pedestrian, as it might have been portrayed elsewhere.

However, it's not clear if that was actually how the woman characterised it herself, and the direct quotes they've included don't in any way try to apportion blame, so whether or not *she* thinks *she* 'collided' with the taxi isn't clear.

So it could be a case of the newspaper being careful to avoid blaming the driver for legal reasons, or whatever.

Also, no suggestion that the driver has been blamed officially, but police still investigating and appealing for witnesses... :?

Mum of five out on Burton hen party collides with taxi

Paramedics had to take the Swadlincote woman to hospital

A mum of five has said that she is devastated after colliding with a taxi during a hen party.

Kylie Considine, 33, from Midway, says she is a "wreck" after the accident.

Ms Considine had been out in Burton celebrating a hen night of one of her mum's friends.

After leaving Burton, she and her sister Teigan went home in a cab, with Ms Considine asking to stop at a cashpoint to pay the fare.

She crossed New Street, Newhall, to go to get money out of the cash point at the post office. When she started to cross the road again on the way back, she says she collided with the cab.

Ms Considine, a former carer who is now a full-time mum, said: "We were at a hen party in Burton town centre. I've not been out for years as I usually am caring for the kids.

"The last bar we went to was the Locomotive. I had one drink in there and we left there at about 10pm. Me and my sister Teigan rang for a taxi at around 10.10pm. I remember getting into the taxi just after that and that's it.

"I came round about an hour later. I was lying on the road with the police and ambulance team looking over me.

"Luckily there were no broken bones, but I was covered in scrapes and bruises. One of my thumbnails had come off, as well as my toenails.

"The side of my body was covered in cuts. I turned my head and saw the taxi. The side of my body had hit the car and I'd spun up into the air, coming down on the windscreen.

"I went to a hospital in Nottingham and spent the night there. I was discharged at around 7am the next day."

Ms Considine does not think what happened to her has sunk in yet.

She said: "The whole thing doesn't feel real to me. I was absolutley in agony through the whole weekend. I usually don't like to just sit around, but I haven't left the house this week. I couldn't lift my arms properly at the weekend.

"My eldest son is still in shock and my daughter ran out and cried 'mummy's poorly' and mummy's hurt'. I was just heartbroken. I've lost a few minutes of my life as my mind is completley blank. Everything I know about what happened has been told to me. The doctor said that was because of the concussion.

"It does upset me. I just feel so vulnerable and unsafe. At least I'm now able to get myself out of bed, but that's it."

A spokesperson from Derbyshire Constabulary said: "We were called just after 10.50pm on Friday October 15 to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on High Street at Newhall.

"The pedestrian, a woman aged in her 30s, was taken to hospital by ambulance for her injuries to be checked. It is not thought they were serious.

"We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or with any information which could help with our enquiries.

"People can contact us, quoting reference 21*601509."

Looks like she was out for the count before the taxi inncident.

Apart from just seeing the taxi before the collision.

Methinks she was either off her head on drink/drugs, possibly a spiked drink.
