12-year-old dragged from Northampton taxi after passenger dispute

A 12-year-old was dragged from a taxi after a dispute between the driver and another passenger, Northamptonshire Police have said.

Officers are investigating the assault on the young passenger which took place at around 5.50pm on Saturday, July 3.

The police say a woman and her two children aged six and 12 got into a white Hackney cab at Northampton train station, after arriving from Coventry to visit family in Moulton.

Once the cab set off, the woman had concerns about the driver’s behaviour and asked him to return them to the station so they could get another taxi.

The male driver then became angry, stopped the vehicle in Northampton Lane, Moulton, and pulled the 12-year-old from the vehicle by the arms before throwing her on the floor.

Her mother and sibling then got out before the driver left the scene. The child was not hurt but was very upset by the incident.

Northamptonshire Police are now appealing for information from anyone who may have seen, or have footage of the incident.

They have offered a description of the man involved.

A spokesperson said: "Police investigating an assault on a taxi passenger in Moulton are appealing for witnesses and information.

"The taxi driver is described as an Asian man in his late 50s, with receding black hair and black moustache, both greying.

"He is around 5ft 3in, of lean build, and was wearing a blue short-sleeved open neck shirt with white buttons.

"Anyone who saw what happened or has information about the incident is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 21000380697."

Assuming he's a legitimate driver, can't be many 50-something 5' 3" HCDs meeting that description, particularly if he's a regular at the station rank.

not many white hackneys either most are black at Northampton station rank from memory


I think there is much more to this than has been printed and suspect the woman and or her 12 year old maybe said a few things which they shouldn't to have upset the driver that much

But I would be surprised if what the lady told the police/press is what actually happened.
