Man choked taxi driver after friend was sick in his carhttps://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/li ... r-21322000It is believed the incident took place following an argument over a cleaning fee
Image: Merseyside Police/Liverpool EchoA man choked a taxi driver in a "disgraceful" assault after an argument over paying a fee to cover his friend being sick in the car.
The suspect got a taxi with a woman to Grove Street, near Falkner Square, at around 12.15am on Friday, July 16.
It is understood the woman vomited in the taxi and a row broke out between the driver and the man over the cleaning fee.
Police say the suspect then assaulted the driver by choking him, leaving him with injuries to his neck and face.
Following the incident, the man and the woman made off from the scene.
The driver was left extremely shaken by the incident.
An investigation is underway and detectives have now issued images of a man they wish to trace.
Detective Inspector Phil Ryan said: "To assault someone in this manner simply for doing their job is disgraceful and we are doing all we can to find the person responsible and bring them to justice.
"Enquiries have been carried out to identify the male in the images as we believed he has information which is vital to our investigation.
"I would appeal to anyone who recognises the man or knows of his whereabouts to contact us."
