Appeal after collision involving taxi and pedestrian in Blackburn

A police appeal has been launched following a serious collision in Blackburn.

The incident happened at 12.20 am (Saturday November 19) on Montague Street at the junction with King Street.

A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a serious road traffic collision in Blackburn this morning. 

“A private hire taxi was in collision with a pedestrian on Montague Street at 12.20am."

The statement added: "The pedestrian was taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service and is being treated for serious injuries."

“If you saw the collision or were in the area at that time and have dashcam footage from your vehicle, please contact 101 or email 6170@lancashire.police.uk – quoting log 0024 of November 19, 2022.”

And someone commenting on another news site obviously has their finger on the pulse of how the trade and nighttime economies work, or that people travel to and from work at irregular hours, or have to catch an early flight etc.

But which is quite amusing on one level, but these people could be councillors or involved with the criminal justice system in some shape or form, eg police or courts :-o

Presumably fair to assume from the wording of the appeal that the driver either stopped at the scene or was subsequently traced. Sounds like they're just looking for witnesses and evidence rather than trying to identify the driver.
