Pretty basic procedural compliance failure here, and an open goal for the auditors.

Not sure it's worth an article in the local press, though

Inverclyde Council: Flaw in taxi licence application process

https://www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/new ... n-process/

A FLAW in how taxi licence applications are handled has been discovered during an internal audit by council chiefs.

As part of the work, the local authority's licensing team carry out a number of checks on each new application form, including checking that the address on the new application matches the address on the applicant’s driver’s licence.

If this is found not to match, staff contact the applicant to prompt them to update the driver’s licence to their current address and provide a copy.

The audit however found that licensing staff do not carry out any further checks on the address, leaving a risk that the data provided may be fraudulent.

The findings will be discussed at a meeting of the council's Audit Committee on October 19.

I've amended the thread title, because it may have misrepresented what the issue was

So your council receives a badge application, and the address on the application form doesn't match the address on the driver's DVLA licence.

What should they do?

Ask the applicant.

Doesn't need a council meeting FFS.
