Hardly the first time incidents like this have been reported, but not quite as bad as when the Derby PHD was knocked senseless during a similar kebab shop incident :?

A BRAVE woman who was assaulted while filming evidence of a drunken attack on a kebab shop has described how the dramatic scenes unfolded - after a judge commended her for her 'public-spirited behaviour' on the night.

Avril Bailey, 38, of Weymouth was assaulted while trying to record footage of a group committing the attack on Weymouth Kebab House on Westham Road on September 27, 2019.

Judge Brian Forster QC sentenced three people, Alix Ritson, aged 23, Karl Ritson, 41, and Jack Comben, 27, all from Weymouth, for the attack on the premises at Bournemouth Crown Court on Tuesday, October 26 when he awarded Mrs Bailey a Sheriff Award recognising her for her bravery on the night.

On the night of the incident, Mrs Bailey was working at Fleetline Taxi which is across the street from the kebab shop.

She said: "I was just sat in the office, it wasn’t extremely busy at that point and it was quite late.

"My husband was stood outside having a cigarette and he saw a couple groups walking down from the William Henry pub."

She said it looked like two groups walking in the same direction and a man from the group behind went up to someone in the group in front of them and hit them.

She said: “My husband went over and they were smashing the windows at the kebab shop.

“The guys that work there are good people, we work with them a lot and we all try to look out for each other.

“I went over there and was trying to take pictures. We phoned police a couple of times but they hadn’t arrived yet, so I wanted to make sure that I got some pictures so I could help to identify the people.

“I was hit as well, near my chest, and I am a breast cancer survivor and he hit me on that side, it was quite sore and sensitive, and quite upsetting really.

“I run the night shift here at Fleetline and I try my best to make it a safe space. This should be somewhere people can come if they need help - I’m always willing to help someone in the community.

She said she was surprised at how long it had taken to get the case through the court two years after it originally took place.

Mrs Bailey was awarded £200 by Judge Forster which she will receive with a certificate from the Office of the High Sheriff of Dorset.

High Sheriff of Dorset, Michael Dooley, said: "Judges can give an award to somebody who's done something particularly good in a case.

"A judge will give out an award in a case and I will sign a certificate and write a personal note to them to thank them - and with that there is a check which is awarded to the individual.

"It's great that we recognise people in this way - there are a lot of unsung heroes out there and we've got to start blowing the trumpet for them."

Really?

I mean really?

I wonder what has happened to the world in those two years. #-o

In that two years, Journalists forgot how to spell Cheque apparently.

I wondered what the stop (check) was all about.
