Glasgow taxi driver injured in M8 Kingston Bridge crash as police arrest 18-year-old https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glas ... 8-22027720 The two car crash, involving the taxi and a grey Range Rover, took place on the Bothwell Street exit slip road off the M8 at Junction 19. The 64-year-old taxi driver was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. A black hackney driver is in serious condition in hospital after a crash on a slip road off the Kingston Bridge this morning. The two car crash, involving the taxi and a grey Range Rover, took place on the Bothwell Street exit slip road off the M8 at Junction 19 (Anderston). Police and emergency were alerted to the scene of the two vehicle collision around 4:30am. The 64-year-old taxi driver was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, with what police describe as "serious injuries". The 18-year-old driver of Range Rover escaped injury. Police confirm that he has been arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences. A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "The 64-year-old taxi driver was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries. The 18 year-old driver of the Range Rover was not injured. "An 18 year-old man has been arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences. "A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.β |

Police Appeal Following Fatal Crash - Castle Kennedy https://www.scotland.police.uk/what-s-h ... e-kennedy/ Road Policing officers in Dumfries and Galloway are appealing for information following a fatal road crash which occurred on the A75 Gretna to Stranraer Road, near to Inch Church, Castle Kennedy. Around 8.20pm, on Saturday, 30 October, a 20-year-old man was struck by a silver coloured Skoda Superb private hire taxi. Emergency services attended, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The 56-year-old male driver, his 18-year-old male passenger and 71-year-old female passenger were uninjured. The road was closed for around eight hours whilst enquiries were carried out. Sergeant Bob McNay, from Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the man who sadly lost his life, and those directly affected by this incident. βIt is important that we establish exactly what happened here and, although we have spoken to a number of people, we are continuing to appeal for anyone with any information to come forward "We are also keen to speak to anyone who may have dash cam footage which captures the vehicle or the pedestrian to get in contact, as they may be able to assist our enquiries.β Anyone with any information, should contact police on 101, quoting incident 3746 of Saturday, 30 October, 2021. |
