Part advertorial, part PR blather, part politics.

And several company-logoed photos underline the advertorial angle

Wrexham taxi firm helping to go green with new hybrid cars

A WREXHAM taxi firm is doing its bit in the battle against climate change.

Wrexham & Prestige Taxis group has purchased 12 'hybrid' vehicles - which partly run on electricity and partly on fuel.

The vehicles are powered by an internal combustion engine and an electric motor, which uses energy stored in batteries.

Michael Halley, of Wrexham & Prestige Taxis, said: "As a company we feel passionate about having a positive impact upon the communities within which we work.

"Our vision is to ensure that the future of the company is clean, green, healthy and safe."

This is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 which calls for ‘long term systemic shifts that will change the trajectory of CO2 levels in the atmosphere’.

Michael added: "Our aim as is to be a carbon neutral company by the year 2030. To start this journey, we have purchased twelve hybrid vehicles to replace old, uneconomical vehicles.

"We will be the first taxi company in the Wrexham area to use hybrid vehicles. These additions to our fleet will benefit our local area by reducing carbon emissions, and is is our first step towards achieving our goals."

The company hopes the bright and vibrant livery colouring will be a "thought provoking and positive symbol" which will raise awareness of sustainable transport within the local community.

To celebrate the roll out of the vehicles, the company is donating books to local primary schools. The books are full of beautiful images and positive heart-warming messages about the environment, and how their choices can impact the planet's future.

Anyway, this is obviously a fleet operator, so as usual had a look on their website to see what their recruitment spiel was saying. Interesting phraseology here:

Wrexham and Prestige Taxis wrote:
As a self-employed sub-contracted driver, appointing Wrexham and Prestige Taxis as your elected private hire business...

And can't recall reading the word 'jockey' in formal writing like this:

Wrexham and Prestige Taxis wrote:
We are always looking for new employees, here at Wrexham & Prestige Taxis. We have two options available:

Owner Driver (Must have your own car with insurance)
Jockey Driver (We supply the car and other motoring costs)

Er, you can't be looking for new *employees* if they're 'self-employed sub-contracted' [-(
