Hackney carriage driver in Henley fined for not having the correct licence

A TAXI driver has been fined for operating a Hackney carriage without the correct licence.

Abad Khan, 55 of Luker Avenue in Henley appeared in Oxford Magistrates' Court on June 18, 2021.

Khan has been fined £120 for driving a Hackney carriage in South Oxfordshire without having obtained a licence to ply for hire in that area.

The defendant pleaded guilty to driving the taxi without the correct licence between July 7, 2020 and October 23, 2020.

Khan has been disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months due to repeat offences.

The defendant was fined £120, a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £724.33 totalling £998.33.

Khan was ordered to pay £20 per month starting form September 18.

He lives in Henley, which seems to be in the South Oxfordshire council area, so presumably he was plated by another council, but it's not stated which.

So was he a PH plying or a hackney plying in the wrong area?

I suspect we will never know.

Did wonder that, but the article said he was fined for 'driving a hackney carriage' in the wrong area, so I took that to mean it was actually a plated HC he was driving.

But the way these things are often worded and reported, he might well have been driving a PHV :?
