Crown: Woman took taxi without paying near-£50 fare https://www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/new ... --50-fare/ A WOMAN has been charged with taking a taxi from Glasgow to Greenock without paying the near-£50 fare. Megan McLaggan, 25, is further accused of assaulting a police officer and struggling violently with three PCs. Prosecutors say she took a cab from the Gorbals to Bow Road on July 1 last year without paying and intending not to pay the £47.70 charge. McLaggan is said to have later tried to kick a female police officer. She has pleaded not guilty by letter at the sheriff court. The case is due to call again on April 26. |

Yes, and the other recent 'runner' cases all seem much the same - it's not just a runner, there's other crimes involved and/or they've a history. And weren't all these recent cases women as well?  But reminds me a bit of that myth that people are thrown in jail for using drugs. Utter nonsense - there's always other crimes involved, and a lot more other crime at that before a drug user is jailed
