Who knows what's happened here, but the usual huge pinch of salt required, at least until the driver's and office's version of events is known.

There's a brief video of the car driving off on the website, which is on a loop a few times, the point of which is not entirely clear

'Libby was drunk' - driver's dark comment to Hull woman on terrifying taxi ride

The woman says she had to let herself out of the taxi via an open window

A Hull woman claims she was left traumatised after a taxi driver "locked" her in the car and told her "he didn't care what happened to her" after she mistakenly gave him the wrong address.

The woman, 29, says she booked a taxi with Hull private hire firm Drive on Monday, January 17, at 6.30pm. She said that when she got into the car, the driver began to drive without confirming her location.

Not long later, the woman realised they were heading to the wrong place and noticed she had put in the incorrect address.

She alleges that she asked the driver if he could take her to the correct address and also offered to pay any additional costs.

She then claims the driver became argumentative and told her "he didn't care what happened to her" because she was no longer on a "booked right".

The woman says she was terrified at this point, realising she did not know where she was nor where the driver was taking her.

The woman says she told the driver if he left her and she were to get attacked, it would come back to him as she would be the last person to have seen her.

She claims to have reminded him of what happened to Libby Squire, the 21-year-old student who was raped and murdered in 2019.

She then alleges the driver told her: "Libby was p****d, it won't happen to you'".

The driver is believed to have taken the woman to the Drive office in Princes Avenue, where the woman claims another member of staff continued to be rude to her.

The woman said: "She told him to take me somewhere that was not my destination. I'm not sure why but it was setting off panic bells. I felt scared, I genuinely didn't know whether to stay in the car or get out. I just felt unsafe."

When the car stopped in what the woman believes was Spring Bank, she claims the driver locked his car, but says she was able to lower the car window and let herself out by pulling on the handle from the outside.

The woman said: "I was left shaking and I felt so vulnerable. If I was so naive, anything could have happened.

"I just don't want this to happen to anyone else. I will never be taking Drive again."

A spokesperson from Drive said: "Hull City Council Taxi & Private Hire Licensing have made us aware of this complaint and we are assisting them with their investigation. It would be inappropriate for any comment to be made at this time."

Sometimes drivers get right miffed with punters messing them around.

Suspect this is the case here.
