At least no evidence they tried to pin the blame on the driver here - we don't know all the details, but I'd be inclined to blame the parent.
And as long as the driver had handed the child in as lost property within 24 hours, he would have been OK anyway
Sleeping child driven off in Glasgow Airport taxi after dad and driver failed to spot himhttps://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scot ... t-26141162The boy and his parent were picked up at Glasgow Airport on Friday morning and taken to the Maryhill area of the city before the driver and child accidentally made the 11 mile return journey.A sleeping child was accidentally driven off in a Glasgow taxi after the driver and his dad failed to realise he was still inside the vehicle.
The frantic parent raised the alarm on Friday morning after he and the child were meant to be dropped off in the Petershill Road area of Maryhill.
But the youngster, who is understood to be around five-years-old, stayed in the car and was then driven the 11 miles back to Glasgow Airport where he and his dad had initially been collected.
Police were called and swiftly made contact with airport staff who were thankfully able to reunite the duo a short time later.
A source said: “No one really knows how this happened. Neither the dad nor the taxi driver realised that the child was still in the car after they were dropped off.
“Thankfully the child was safe and well but I think everyone got a bit of a fright. It’s like Home Alone Glasgow edition.”
Police Scotland confirmed the awkward incident and stressed that there was no concern for the child’s welfare.
A force spokesperson said: “Around 9.20 this morning, Friday, 4 February, 2022, police were called after a taxi driver dropping off passengers in Petershill Road, Maryhill inadvertently drove off with a sleeping child in the back.
“The taxi driver was located a short time later and the child reunited with the parents. No concern for the child. Advice and assistance given."
A spokesperson for Glasgow Airport added: “We are aware of the incident and can confirm that the taxi driver concerned ensured the child and his father were quickly reunited when the highly-unusual situation became clear.”
