The incident happened on Saturday, February 5, in the Wilton Street area of the town.
Police say the driver picked up four male passengers in the Lord Street area at 8.20pm.
After noticing a black Skoda Octavia with a flat tyre on Wilton Street near to Morrisons, the driver stopped and three of the passengers offered to help the driver change the tyre.
The fourth passenger then reportedly grabbed the driver and dragged her from the vehicle, before they got in the driver's seat and made off in the direction of West Dyke Road.
The remaining suspects made off in the direction of Redcar High Street.
The vehicle was later recovered from Rydal Avenue in the Grangetown area.
Police would appeal for anyone who has information or dashcam footage from the area of Lord Street, Wilton Street and West Dyke Road on Saturday 5th February between 8.15pm and 8.30pm to call 101, reference 020530.
