This seems to simply be a rehash of a post made by the nightclub on Facebook, which is often how these things work nowadays :?

But maybe looks like the reverse of the normal scenario - HCs coming in to save the day from expensive PHs, rather than the other way round :-o

Buckinghamshire’s leading LGBTQ+ venue is starting a new taxi trial to provide an alternative to expensive private hire vehicles.

Pink Punters in Milton Keynes will be trialling Hackney Carriages from the venue for the next four weekends.

A spokesperson for the venue, based in Fenny Stratford, says that a future aim is to provide in-vehicle CCTV for all future transport providers.

The spokesperson said that the service for customers leaving Pink Punters will be “better than ever”.

Currently, visitors to Pink Punters face hefty prices for travel or choose to stay in nearby hotels rather than pay for private hire.

The spokesperson said: “For the next four weekends, Hackney Taxi drivers will be providing an extra value (a better than ever) service for Pink Punters customers leaving the venue.

“Drivers aim to demonstrate that they can offer a realistic and credible alternative to private hire vehicles.

“Pink Punters will be actively and closely monitoring this and recommend that whatever your previous opinions and experiences are of Hackneys (which for the majority is good) that you talk to and give them the opportunity to demonstrate their new and improved service.

“Pink Punters are working towards all future on-site transport providers having in-vehicle CCTV for all party reassurance and safety purposes.

“We want that for our peace of mind just as much as everyone else and the Milton Keynes Hackney Carriage Association are happy with this as a future aim (although not as part of this trial).

Feedback is welcome via dedicated email to Pink Punters for evaluation purposes via taxifeedback@pinkpunters.com

Users of the service are encouraged to give details of their journey time and vehicle plate numbers where possible to make identification easier.

The Facebook post has attracted over 50 comments, and as you'd expect there's lots of posts about 'rip-off' fares (real or imagined), and some people saying HCs are preferable to PHs, and vice versa.

There's also mention of a private hire 'rank', so not clear if there was maybe some sort of exclusive arrangement with a PH provider, or maybe just PHVs ranking unofficially and illegally.

And a quick Google suggests at least two major players (Royal and Skyline) have webpages specifically about the club, but nothing to suggest any kind of official link up.

But it's looking like the club has now come to some sort of arrangement with the HCA, so presumably they're hoping that'll exert at least some sort of control over the fares charged.

Note, though, that the club's Facebook post doesn't actually use the word 'expensive' in relation to PHVs (unless the post has been amended).

So looks like the word 'expensive' was added by Buckinghamshire Live:

So are the council adopting a rank in record time?

Looking at their website the location for this venue is on the outskirts of MK, so I wonder how attractive it will be for the hackney trade? :-k

Maybe that's why the venue view PH as so expensive when in theory everyone is going to be expensive.
