A WOMAN reportedly racially abused a taxi driver before assaulting him after failing to pay for the journey.

The incident occurred on Monday, December 20 in Armley, Leeds at approximately 4pm.

It was reported that the suspect was picked up by a taxi and refused to pay for the journey

The taxi driver asked the suspect to leave the vehicle which resulted in the driver being subjected to racial abuse.

The suspect then assaulted the driver before exiting the vehicle.

The driver suffered minor injuries but is understandably shaken by the incident.

Officers have conducted several lines of enquiry but have not yet been able to identify the suspect.

Police in Leeds have released the below footage in their appeal to identify a woman they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

Anyone who may recognise the woman seen in the footage is asked to contact Leeds District Police on 101 quoting crime reference 13210656838

Information can also be given to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The reason the website refers to 'footage' is because the article is basically a rehash of a West Yorks Police appeal on Twitter, and the brief footage can actually be viewed there:

If that's the assault in the footage then certainly not the worst incident of its kind in the grand scheme of things, so just like the Manc forensics tents and the like the other day, makes you wonder how police prioritise stuff like this in a force area covering the likes of Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield and Wakefield :-o

Of course, there's a racial abuse element to it as well, and these things often treated as more of a crime than someone beaten round the head, say :?
