Taxi driver attacked by passengers in Wrexham who then drove off in his vehicle A taxi driver has been assaulted by two passengers who then stole his vehicle. The driver was assaulted close to Lower Mill Drive, New Broughton, Wrexham, just after 9pm on Saturday, February 12. Now Apollo taxis in Wrexham have launched a Go-Fund me page to support the driver and his family. North Wales Police have confirmed that one man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after they found the car on Tan y Coed Wrexham. They are still looking for a second man. In a statement a spokesperson for North Police said: "Shortly after 9pm on Saturday (12 February) we received reports that a male taxi driver had been pushed from his car and assaulted by two male passengers, who then drove away in the vehicle. "The driver sustained facial injuries during the reported offence, which occurred close to Lower Mill Drive, Wrexham. The vehicle, a silver Peugeot 508, was later found abandoned close to a property on Tan y Coed, Wrexham. "Officers attended the nearby address and arrested a 36-year-old male on suspicion of robbery. The other male suspect is currently being sought and our enquiries remain ongoing." The driver works for Apollo taxis in Wrexham and they have issued an update confirming he is at home and recovering. After receiving several messages the company set up a Go-Fund me page for the driver and his family. In less than 24 hours the page had raised over £500. On the Go-fund me page Apollo thanked people for all of the support and well wishes for the driver who is self-employed.
