Slightly different from the normal late night unplated/fake taxi scenario. And interesting that the word 'unregulated' is used rather than the more usual 'unlicensed', or whatever. But it's one of these articles which simply rehashes a brief social media post (classic 'churnalism'), so gives the impression it's padded out a bit. I mean, the basic fact that the vehicle was 'siezed' is repeated three times Taxi passengers forced out of car as driver had no insurance https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/ ... r-23088921 The car was seized by police in Warwickshire An unregulated taxi full of passengers was stopped by police in Warwickshire. Police caught the driver red-handed collecting fares for transporting a full load of people to work. And the driver was found to have no insurance and was therefore acting as an unregulated taxi. Police said the passengers were completely unaware that they were not covered by his actions. Officers subsequently seized the vehicle. Ironically, Warwickshire Police suggested the driver get a taxi home. And they urged those operating taxis to do so properly and legally. OPU Warwickshire shared the following on Facebook: "This vehicle was stopped and seized. The driver was caught red-handed collecting fares for transporting a full load of people to work. "Normally you wouldn't think there is an issue. Except the driver hadn't got an insurance policy for that purpose and is acting as an unregulated 'taxi.' "Ironically a taxi was suggested for the driver to get home. "His passengers completely unaware that they were not covered by his actions. "If you are going to do it, do it properly and legally." |

Well that's another interesting angle that's not covered by the article - was he working from some sort of office or licensed operator, or maybe just some sort of lone wolf? |

They then get fellow native speakers phone them for service wanting to support someone from their native country offering that service The fact that these people were on their way to work would suggest that they were probably waiters or care home staff or agricultural workers looking for a cheap ph to work usually once they have built up a good trade they will legitimize their business by becoming licensed I suspect the reason he got caught might have possibly been he was transporting illegal immigrants to their work place and got caught in a police operation |
