This looks like an expanding small firm rather than a relocation. And, despite a comment to the contrary on the Echo's website, looks like all-HC rather than PH (maybe mixed fleet, but nothing on the firm's Facebook page to suggest it's anything other than 100% HC). So not the same conflict in the likes of Peterborough(?) where the PH office was opening close to a rank Not that this doesn't raise the possibility of conflict, but more likely to be HC v HC rather than HC v PH Taxi office to open in Dorchester arcade https://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/19983 ... er-arcade/ A TAXI firm has been given permission to use a former shop unit at the bottom of Dorchester’s Hardye Arcade for an office. There was some opposition to the change at a town council planning committee meeting with councillors expressing fears that the use would result in all the spaces set aside for taxis, opposite the office, being permanently used by the firm. But former mayor and retired town taxi driver Tim Harries said the position would be no different than it always had been – with any taxis able to use the available spaces on a first-come, first-served basis. After his intervention the council decided to raise no objection. The consent for the change of use was granted by Dorset Council to Mr Damon Clarke of Damos Taxis. The small office provides a space for drivers and customers to wait. |

Quote: There was some opposition to the change at a town council planning committee meeting with councillors expressing fears that the use would result in all the spaces set aside for taxis, opposite the office, being permanently used by the firm. Well if councillors needed to be told that the rank didn't come as part of a package with the office, should they really be on the planning committee? Anyway, this is the office here to the right, and I can't see any rank space in the vicinity, and looks more likely to be conflict between HCs visiting the office, and cars and vans using the disabled spaces and loading bays https://www.google.com/maps/@50.7129836 ... 312!8i6656 In fact, this looks like one of their cars in the loading area beside the office (And see also photo of black Ford below, which is parked in the same loading spaces )

They've certainly put a bit of effort into it all, though, and have brought a semi-derelict office space back to life Part of it was literally a toilet (Can't see any obvious way to reduce the size of these Facebook photos, at least without a lot of fannying around, and think I've done enough fannying around as it is )![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
