Police have issued CCTV pictures of a man they want to talk to after a taxi driver was attacked, chased and had racial abuse hurled at him in Denmead. Witnesses to the incident are also being sought.
Shortly after 9.20pm on Sunday, April 17, an altercation took place between the driver and a male passenger on Southwick Road. The driver, a man aged in his 40s, stopped the taxi, a red Toyota Prius, and both he and the passenger got out of the vehicle.
Police said the passenger then assaulted the taxi driver before pursuing him from the roundabout at the junction with Forest Road, towards the junction with Hambledon Road while being racially abusive.
The man is described as being aged between 50-60 and muscular, with grey/brown receding hair and a grey beard. He was wearing a dark polo shirt, dark blue jeans, white trainers and glasses.
Hampshire Constabulary said: "Do you recognise the man in the CCTV images or from the description? Perhaps you were in the area at the time and witnessed the incident?
