Taxi driver faces court for allegedly using harmful words to woman A TAXI driver is facing trial for allegedly using harmful words towards a woman during a trip. Raja Ahmed, 24, of Brantwood Road in Bradford, pleaded not guilty to using threatening, abusive, or insulting, words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, or distress, at Skipton Magistrates' Court last Friday (April 22). It relates to October 10 last year. Ahmed is accused of using harmful words to cause a negative impact on a woman while driving a taxi between Ilkley Railway Station and Skipton Railway Station. The journey between the two stations takes roughly 20 minutes by car. Magistrates sent the case for trial, at 10am on September 19 at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court. Ahmed has been remanded on unconditional bail until the trial. The alleged victim in this case is set to face cross examination during the trial, by an individual appointed by the court. |

Interesting case this, and sounds a bit different from the norm. But imagine if the tables were turned and people who 'used harmful words causing a negative impact' on *drivers* were prosecuted. The courts would be choc-a-bloc with them

Clearly something allegedly happened that has concerned the authorities, else this matter would never have made it as far as it has. |
