Taxi firm suspend cab driver after 'pregnant woman pushed over'

Lucky Seven have moved to suspend a cabbie after a "pregnant woman" was allegedly "pushed over". A 54-year-old man has been voluntarily interviewed by police over the incident which unfolded in Staffordshire.

Staffordshire Police have confirmed no injuries were reported following the incident which happened at around 4.30pm. Lucky Seven said: "This driver is not working for us at the moment and won't be working with us until we have got confirmation from the police.

"It was an altercation over a fare and she tried to leave without paying. He was trying to restrain her. The police are involved and the driver is no longer with us at this moment in time."

The incident happened in Newcastle Street, Middleport, on Tuesday. Passers by who witnessed the incident told StokeonTrentLive that the incident left the woman in question in tears.

Police confirmed: "Police were called at 4.35pm on Tuesday to Newcastle Street in Middleport following a dispute over a taxi fare. No injuries were reported. Enquiries are on-going."

Got to be a lot more to this than meets the eye.

But nice of the operator to bin off the driver without a full investigation.
