Not sure if this is really a trade story - kind of thing that could happen to anyone.

On the other hand, some people see red when a taxi driver is involved, so to that degree the same thing could happen with another motorist but the reaction could be completely different.

Witnessed maybe something similar here the other night, when a boy racer got out of his car and started shouting and swearing at one of the taxi drivers. Problem was that the driver had double parked beside the rank to speak to the driver in pole, and was in a very awkward position. So to that degree the boy racer did have grounds to complain, but he went a bit over the top, but thankfully it didn't get any further than shouting and swearing :?

Cabbie was seriously injured following minor collision in Oakhurst Road in Acocks Green

Police have arrested a man after a taxi driver was left in a critical condition following a suspected road-rage attack following a minor collision. The victim suffered a serious head injury after he was punched and knocked to the ground in a Birmingham street.

The 45-year-old was allegedly assaulted after his taxi collided with a parked car in Oakhurst Road, Acocks Green, at around 1.45am on Saturday June 11. Now West Midlands Police have confirmed they have arrested a man.

A spokesman said today (June 17): "A man has been arrested after a taxi driver was seriously injured following an assault on Oakhurst Road in the early hours of Saturday morning (11 June).

"The 23-year-old was arrested this morning on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody. The taxi driver, a 45-year-old man remains in hospital in a serious condition.

"We are exploring CCTV in the area and have spoken to witnesses, but we believe there were more people who saw what happened and haven’t spoken to us.

"If you can help please contact us via Live Chat on our website or call 101 quoting crime reference 20/540756/22. Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111."

West Midlands Ambulance previously released a statement confirming its crews had attended the scene.

It said: "We were called to reports of a patient lying in the road on Oakhurst Road at 1.42am on Saturday morning. Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene."

A community source said: "The taxi driver did not get attacked by a passenger, he was reversing after dropping off passengers and hit the car behind with minimal damage."

'Community source', eh?

Sounds like someone who didn't want to give their name in case the headbanger gets wind of it :-|
