A taxi driver has been arrested on suspicion of dealing drugs in Sefton.
Police arrested a 42-year-old man at around 6.30pm last night (Saturday), after officers on patrol in Crosby witnessed suspected drugs transactions taking place in a private hire vehicle on Hicks Road and Glendower Road, Waterloo.
Officers detained the driver, searched the vehicle and recovered multiple wraps suspected cocaine. The driver, from Formby, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class a drugs.
A search of a property in Formby was then executed. A cannabis farm consisting of 14 plants, a quantity of suspected cannabis, a quantity of cash, a machete, two crossbows and an air weapon was recovered.
The man was further arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of criminal property. He was taken into custody and is being questioned by police.
Detective Inspector Darren Hankin said: “Thanks to the work of our officers yesterday, dangerous weapons and drugs have now been removed from our streets and can no longer be used to inflict fear and harm in Merseyside.
“We know that drug dealing is a blight on our communities and we will relentlessly pursue those people responsible. No one should profit from such offences while our wider law-abiding communities work hard to earn an honest living and we take action on all reports of drug dealing we receive.
“If you know someone in your area involved in suspected drug dealing please let us know so we can take them off our streets.”
