I see both TaxiPoint and DM News have made a news item about this, so I suppose it's worth a mention on here.

This is the tweet, and the slightly amusing thing was that the licensing chair was there as 'special guest' along with 'colleagues'

Let's hope checks were more thorough than the tweet's punctuation in terms of commas and full stops :?

City of Wolverhampton Council wrote:

Both TaxiPoint and DM News say the checks involved "compliance on matters including documentation, vehicle condition and passenger safety" and "detailed checks on vehicle condition, documentation, and driver compliance" respectively, although not sure where that came from - can't find anything official apart from the tweet above.

So maybe they're just making assumptions, and DM seems to use TaxiPoint as a source, so maybe he just got it from there

But because the tweet doesn't say there were NO issues found, then you can guarantee that there were issues found :-o

But they won't say that explicitly.

But the usual formula is to state specifically if no problems are found, but if problems are found then just say that they were out doing checks. Or at least that's what I'm surmising, but then I'm a tad cynical about these things.

Although not as cynical as Wolverhampton, at least in the other sense of the word 'cynical' [-(
