Sure I read the original article on this a few weeks ago, but it doesn't seem to be on here. But most of this is just the original article repeated, except that that one said he was a 'former taxi driver', who now resides in Folkestone, Kent, and now drives a truck.

But, of course, he no doubt lost his badge some time ago :?

Drug dealing Dundee taxi driver had haul of illegal weaponry

A taxi driver caught with thousands of pounds worth of class-A drugs and firearms in his Dundee home who claimed he had been “set-up” has been jailed.

Scott Cuthill will spend 22 months behind bars after admitting being a drug dealer and owning the weapons earlier this year.

The 57-year-old had been warned at an earlier hearing he faced a custodial sentence, which was handed down by Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown at Dundee Sheriff Court.

Sending him down, she said: “A custodial sentence is to be expected in firearms cases.”

‘This is a set-up’

Police visited Cuthill’s old home in Caldrum Street on August 11 2019 due to an unrelated incident.

Both Cuthill and his partner of 15 years, from whom he had recently split, were taken to police HQ at West Bell Street.

At that stage, no criminality was established by officers but Cuthill’s partner – the registered tenant – provided the keys to the property for police to search.

They returned to the house and found a safe, which was locked with a digital keypad, and a secured moneybox within.

They returned to the station and asked Cuthill for the code, which he refused to provide.

He told police: “This is a set-up, this is a set-up.”

Weapons and drugs

Police eventually forced entry to the safe and found a haul of drug paraphernalia and illegal items including a can of PAVA spray labelled “American-style Nato super-paralysing”

A stun gun, from which sparks could be both seen and heard by officers was also recovered.

Both of these items are illegal in the UK unless the owners hold a firearms licence.

Police also discovered tubs and snap-bags full of amphetamines and methamphetamines, which were covered in Cuthill’s DNA.

In total, 184.17 grammes of drugs were seized, along with a set of weighing scales.

Police valued this haul as being worth between £3,680 and £5,520 and noted from evidence they uncovered, Cuthill was selling single-gramme deals for £20.

Related messages on his phone dated back to November 2017.

Cuthill admitted being concerned in the supply of both drugs for two years.

Police also seized £3,400 in cash from the safe and cashbox and a further £795.68 from Cuthill.

There's also this from 2017 :?

‘Depressed’ Dundee man sent indecent text messages to social worker

https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/du ... al-worker/

Scott Cuthill, 52, of Caldrum Street, was placed on a community payback order and told to undertake 80 hours of unpaid work.

Cuthill admitted that on various occasions between February 22 and March 6, at Caldrum Street, he sent grossly abusive text messages to a social worker which were indecent, obscene or menacing.

He also admitted that he swore and uttered abusive and threatening remarks.

Solicitor advocate Jim Laverty told the court his client suffered from anxiety and depression but had been meeting his GP regarding that.

“He has not resorted to self-medicating with alcohol, which was at the root of these problems,” said Mr Laverty.

“He accepts it is a serious matter.”

There's an article on here from 2012 about a stone-throwing/windscreen-smashing incident in Dundee, and the driver was a Scott Cuthill (46).

So almost certainly the same person, therefore looks like he was in the trade a few years before the drugs thing came to light.

So early in 2017, he made the abusive and threatening remarks to a social worker. The drugs case says messages on his phone relating to dealing date back to November 2017. So maybe he started dealing after the case with the social worker, but of course he could well have been dealing before then.

But he was presumably allowed to keep his badge after the threatening texts and remarks incidents early in 2017, when he'd also been diagnosed with depression. (Although that article doesn't mention the t-word.)

But he was caught with the drugs and weaponry a couple of years later in 2019, when it looks like he was still driving a taxi.

By early this year he'd moved to Folkestone, where he was working as a trucker.

Now he's in jail :-|

And he only has himself to blame for it.

Not sure of the relevance of this, since this guy is long, long gone from the trade, and to that extent the Courier's headline is maybe a tad misleading - maybe permissible if he was more recently in the trade, although on the other hand a lot of this is historic, and thus presumably when he was still a driver in Dundee :-|

The incidents don't look like job, though :?

Drug-dealing Dundee taxi driver faces more jail time for sexually abusing young girls

https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/co ... sed-girls/

Scott Cuthill, who was previously jailed for dealing class A drugs, faces further jail time after a jury convicted him of sex abuse.

A convicted drug dealer is back behind bars after being brought to justice for sexually abusing young girls in a “gross breach of trust”.

Former taxi driver Scott Cuthill, 60, also carried out a sex attack on a woman as part of abuse which spanned a decade.

The remorseless Cuthill denied committing the offences at locations in Dundee but a jury at the city’s sheriff court found him guilty of three separate charges.

One of the sex attacks was committed just weeks before he was jailed for the drugs and firearms offences in 2022.

Years of abuse

Jurors returned a unanimous verdict on a charge that Cuthill abused a girl – of early primary school age – on an occasion between May 2012 and May 2014.

On various occasions between April 2020 and June 2022, a second girl suffered similar abuse at Cuthill’s hands.

He was subject to a bail order from August 2021 by this point.

A woman was also sexually assaulted in June 2022 by Cuthill at a hotel in Dundee.

The jury returned a majority verdict on this charge.

Cuthill was previously sentenced to 22 months in prison after being snared with drugs worth more than £5,000 as well as a stun gun.

Police who raided his Dundee home in August 2019 also seized a haul of cash and PAVA spray from a safe which he refused to provide the code for.

Cuthill told officers: “This is a set up, this is a set up.”

No illusions about possible jail time

Solicitor Kevin Hampton said Cuthill, of Cairnwell Place in Aberdeen, was under “no illusions” that a prison sentence may be the most likely sentence.

Sheriff Tim Niven-Smith said: “I think it would be beneficial to have the insight of a report to assess what risk he may present to girls, particularly young girls under the age of 13.

“I take the view standing the charges, particularly charges one and two, custody is inevitable given the gross breach of trust involved.”

Cuthill showed no emotion as the verdicts were delivered and that continued when he was remanded in custody.

He will be sentenced next month once reports are prepared and Cuthill is now listed on the sex offenders’ register.

I think it's fair to say this fella is a wrong'un.

Think the trade is well rid of him.

This time there's no mention at all of the t-word. To that extent I'd never have come across this article unless it had been on the Courier's website (which I visit all the time), nor would I have bothered reading it but for the face and name looking familiar :?

Still nothing to suggest any trade angle to the stuff he was involved in, which is maybe surprising in that he did seem to be in the trade for quite a few years, as opposed to just passing through, or whatever.

Remorseless Dundee predator on register for life for ‘gross breach of trust’

Scott Cuthill's attitude to his offending was slammed by a sheriff.

A predator who sexually abused young girls in Dundee in a “gross breach of trust” has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.

Scott Cuthill, 60, also carried out a sex attack on an adult woman as part of abuse which spanned a decade.

One of the children used a drawing to illustrate the abuse she suffered at Cuthill’s hands and said she wanted to die.

Remorseless Cuthill – a convicted drug-dealer – denied the three charges against him but jurors at Dundee Sheriff Court saw through his lies and found him guilty of the “sickening” crimes.

Sheriff Tim Niven-Smith said: “I have no doubt your offending was deliberate for your own sexual gratification.

“I have no doubt your offending had the potential to cause significant psychological harm to your victims.

“The young complainer in charge two became very depressed, has spoken of wanting to die and struggles to sleep at night and does not feel safe in her own home.

“That’s totally down to you and your vile abuse towards her.”

Previous offence

One of the sex attacks was committed just weeks before Cuthill was jailed for drugs and firearms offences in 2022.

Jurors returned a unanimous verdict on a charge Cuthill abused a girl – who was as young as five – on an occasion between May 2012 and May 2014.

On various occasions between April 2020 and June 2022, a second girl suffered similar abuse at Cuthill’s hands.

Cuthill was subject to a bail order from August 2021 by this point.

A woman was also sexually assaulted in June 2022 by Cuthill at a hotel in Dundee.

The jury returned a majority verdict on this charge.

Solicitor Kevin Hampton said Cuthill maintains his innocence but understood he would receive a lengthy jail term.

The lawyer said Cuthill, who appeared via video link from HMP Perth, had a “stable relationship” with his partner, which is continuing despite the jury’s verdict.

Register for life

Sheriff Niven-Smith, who described the abuse as “sickening”, said: “You have not merely crossed the custody threshold, you have done so by a country mile.

“You are not contrite. You have shown no remorse for your offending.

“I share the view of the author (of the social work report) that you accept no responsibility for your offending.

“You, in part, suggest you can’t really remember because of the level of alcohol you were consuming.”

Cuthill, who most recently has lived in Aberdeen, was also placed on the sex offenders register for life and made subject to non-harassment orders lasting a decade.

He showed no emotion as the sentence was passed down.
