Will they still make a profit at 20k? Thats 33% cheaper than the UK? Even so I doubt there wil be many takers even at that price?

those TX2's wouldnot last five minutes on the streets out thier, however if they were to build the iconic Fairway, then maybe they would last as long as mine has!

the £20000.00 price is what the pakistan plant will be able to manufacture them for, the uk costs are £42000.00,with pakistan already talking about exporting i cant see a plant remaining in the uk

Right is it time to get in touch with trading standards :?: :?: so this can nip this in the bud, Then LTI might just drop the price,
If LTI wants to survive why the hell can't they listen to the cab owners and get things sorted like getting rid of the ford engine, Whats wrong with the new Nissan one????
Is there anything else that goes wrong with them??? apart from anything to do with the engine
All it would take is for every owner to e mail them and say that as you will not listen to us we will no longer buy you product and you could also let your council know that as most councils allow other types of cabs on the road due to LTI not having ABS, Edinburgh springs to mind, and that they should drop the demand for LTI cabs.
Owners in London could tell red Ken and the PCO that as well, They could also threaten to go PH, it would make a difference having a mini cab driver who knows where he is going, :wink:
In a nut shell if LTI wont listen make them

What is the point in contacting the trading standards about anything?

I think that it's not so much of an engine problem as there would be quite a few that could be fitted, it's more of an emissions control equipment problem in particular the DPF's, they would have to redesign the existing vehicle to fit it! So excepting that their hands are perhaps tied to a certain extent in this area may help you to understand the situation, although I doubt that very much somehow :wink: :lol:

I'm pleased your happy with your fifteen year old fairway and I hope it lasts you another fifteen years but don't they have age limits on cabs down there? Your punters must get a real smooth ride in that iconic vehicle?

haha the ride can be a bit bumpy, but then the roads in oxford aren't what they used to be, as for age limits, the only limit is how old it has to be when put on the road, after that it can be on for as long as it can be.

by the way i had enough people just wanting to have thier picture taken next to my icon!

I hold the view that as long as a vehicle is in good condition and passes a rigorous examination at least twice a year then there is no reason why it should not be licensed. Some people may take a different view but we are all entitled to an opinion on such matters.

I understand that 25% of the Taxi fleet in Oxford are Fairways, is that because you guys like riding around in bone shakers or is it because the plate cost three times as much to buy than a new TX2?

I know, I have a picture of you, me and your icon, positioned on top of my TV, in my lounge. I must admit the Fairway looks in better nick than the driver. lol

It does'nt fit in the TX engine compartment.

Its an Italian one next I gather?
