HEADLINE: Taxi driver to keep licence
Nizam Ali has been allowed to keep his Hackney Carriage taxi licence despite a failure to declare past traffic offences. Cheltenham Borough Council's licensing committee heard that Mr Ali received six penalty points this year for speeding and running a red light.
Council policy requires taxi drivers to declare the points. Mr Ali told members he was not aware of this and was sorry for his past actions. The committee agreed that he should keep his licence but would have to go on a road safety driver assessment at his own expense.
