A taxi has crashed into a sign on Arbroath Road in Dundee – with multiple emergency services called to the scene.

Police, firefighters and paramedics are in attendance at the collision close to the Scott Fyffe Roundabout.

The alarm was raised just after 3.30pm.

It has not been confirmed whether anyone has been injured.

One onlooker said: “The traffic is backed up onto the Scott Fyffe Roundabout and the road is blocked.

“I can’t tell what is happening but the traffic has been stopped from turning off the roundabout.

“It also looks like it’s causing delays towards Dawson Park.

Two fire engines and ambulances

“At its peak there were two fire engines, two police cars and two ambulances.

“Police were directing traffic away from Arbroath Road back on to the roundabout.

“One of the ambulances came and went within 10 minutes.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for more information.

More to follow.

This is the roadsign here below. Looks like the taxi must have been approaching from the direction on the Streetview, and it's a busy but quite straightforward bit of road, so who knows what's happened :?

Not the easiest of roundabouts at busy times, so could understand if it had happened there, but if the taxi was simply approaching the roundabout as on the Streetview then it should be very straightforward at that point.

So assuming no other vehicles involved, driver could have suffered some kind of medical emergency, hence the two ambulances in attendance...

Of course, could be something completely different :-|

They seem to have changed the headline to say it's a two-vehicle crash, so that's my theory totally scuppered

Taxi smashes into sign on Dundee road in two-vehicle crash

Don't know if there's any more information in the updated article, but it's behind a pretty tight paywall, and the first article is all I can find :-o

But the first article above certainly conveys the impression that it was a one-vehicle incident [-(

Going at some speed to do that kind of damage.

Lucky he wasn't killed.

Well all this totally demolishes my wee theory :-s

I blame the Courier 8-[

But looks like no one was hurt, and the fact an ambulance was involved helps explain it all...
