Nothing here to explain why the perp here kicked off. Not the fare, not the route, not the driver's attitude - whether there's detail missing is another matter, but as it reads he kicked off over literally nothing.
However, some may zero in on a particular word in this article, but I'm certainly not prejudiced in that way
Wrexham man in court for hitting taxi driver after funeralhttps://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/23142 ... r-funeral/A MAN who drunkenly attacked a taxi driver following a funeral has been spared jail.Huey Delaney, of Ruthin Road, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.
The 26-year-old admitted that on May 10 at Marford, he assaulted Dana Qader by beating him.
Prosecutor Suzanne Cartwright told the court that police were called by Mr Qader, a taxi driver, after he'd been to the Trevor Arms Hotel to collect passengers.
Outside the premises, the defendant and a female got in - with Delaney sitting in the front passenger seat.
"You taking me, f****** b****," he told the driver, before punching him to the mouth, followed by three or four more to the neck.
The female managed to coax the defendant out of the car and Mr Qader drove away, returning later when police were there to identify Delaney.
In an impact statement, the victim said the incident scared him and prompted him to look for a different line of work.
Andy Holliday, defending, told the court despite having no recollection of the events, his client accepted the facts and that the assault was completely unprovoked.
He explained: "Mr Delaney went to a funeral for a well-respected local Traveller, Patrick Berry.
"He attended the Trevor Arms where the wake was being held, and he found himself in a round he couldn't sustain.
"Mr Delaney is rather diminutive and is not a big drinker - he was handed whiskey and he couldn't handle it.
"He got into such a state, he has no recollection."
Mr Holliday said the defendant had no explanation as to why the assault had happened.
District Judge Gwyn Jones handed down a custodial sentence of 12 weeks, but suspended it for 12 months.
The defendant must carry out 130 hours of unpaid work and pay the victim £500 in compensation.
He must also pay prosecution costs of £85.
