Talk about making a meal out of something. Zero evidence here to support most of this woman's claims, who makes the driver sound like the devil incarnate

He did seem to barge into her lane, and didn't seem to indicate, but her own manoeuvre looked a tad iffy, but no way of knowing if she indicated, what was happening behind her etc.

And he shouldn't have got out of his car, but apart from that it's all what she's claiming happened rather than any substantive evidence presented here.

Maybe she's an expert driver, but maybe she's a menace herself who thinks it's everyone else who are the bad drivers

The video is on the Echo's website, obviously, and I'm assuming there's no sound (which might have substantiated some of her claims), because I certainly can't hear anything :-$

Taxi driver confronts woman in 'road rage' scenes near the Rocket

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/li ... d-25635576

Lynn Higgins said the driver's behaviour was "dangerous, intimidating, unacceptable and unwelcome"

A taxi driver confronted a woman in a bizarre "road rage" scene near the Rocket.

Lynn Higgins, who shared the footage of the taxi driver exiting his licenced car and confronting her, said his behaviour was "dangerous, intimidating, unacceptable and unwelcome". Lynn said the incident happened near the 'Rocket flyover' in Broadgreen on Monday, November 28.

Lynn claimed she was "tailgated" by the taxi driver, in a Mercedes, for a number of minutes and thought she had got away after a set of lights. But she claimed the taxi driver went through the red lights and tried to overtake and edge in front of her.

As she reached the next set of lights near the Rocket pub and started to manoeuvre into the next lane, the driver "erratically" overtook her to cut in front. He then proceeded to exit his taxi, with the flyover seen in the background, before launching into a foul-mouthed tirade of abuse at the confused woman.

Lynn told the ECHO: "Prior to the incident the drive was bang on the speed limits - careful and considerate the whole way. Nothing provoked this incident other than the cab driver's impatience. I appreciate that being stuck in heavy traffic might cause him to lose revenue, but this is no excuse for hazardous driving and aggressive behaviour to others.

"He was intimidating and downright dangerous. His style of driving causes accidents, costs lives, and is unacceptable on our roads."

Lynn said after the taxi driver's rant he got back in his car, but had only progressed "eight entire feet further ahead in the queue on traffic. She added he gave her a number of "obscene" hand gestures as they parted ways.

Lynn told the ECHO: "I know there are many brilliant cabbies out there, but this particular individual is not fit to don the plates. He is the type who endangers lives, intimidates people, and gives other cabbies a bad name."

Looks like there will easily be 100+ comments on the Echo's website, and not much support for the woman.

In fact one contributor claims to have witnessed it all, and it was all the woman's fault :-o

To be fair, I don't believe they witnessed what happened either :---)

Quote:
I saw this altercation..the female driver did not driver well at all..more lessons are definitely needed..she actually brake checked the Mercedes taxi van although I’m unsure if she knew what she’d actually done..maybe the annoyed taxi driver was informing her that her L plates were missing..

A few other sample comments. And this is just from having a quick look at the first ten or so comments.

Quote:
That’s was the woman’s fault wouldn’t let him through just being stubborn I’m a woman myself but I will say most of these woman drivers should not be on the roads driving cars end of

Quote:
What a load of rubbish. Where is the sound recording? I can see no aggression whatsoever from the driver. The woman crosses her left hand wheels into another lane to avoid the right hand queue which is careless driving.

Quote:
Woman has clearly cut him up and she is what’s wrong with todays generation, can’t vent any frustration despite her being probably wrong in the first place! He was hardly aggressive and was clearly frustrated with her driving and not letting him in which I can understand, women on the main don’t allow you in to spaces/gaps or even thank you for letting them in. Oh and she’s a grass

Quote:
Someone else with a "grass cam"

This footage does not tell the full story!

We only have her word that she didnt fo anything at all. THERES MORE TO THIS STORY ME THINKS

Last night I thought you were entirely disagreeing with me Edders, and were assuming the driver was guilty as charged.

But was waiting to see what others were thinking, but obviously no one else wants to share their thoughts :-#

However, on reflection, not sure if you were being sarcastic, and perhaps getting at the Echo and members of the public who think the driver should be hung, drawn and quartered, with the only substantive evidence being that he got out of his cab...

But if you are blaming the driver, then on the evidence presented I think your view is born of prejudice, as demonstrated by the otherwise irrelevant reference to Merseyside

(Had another quick look at the comments, and almost 200 now :-o

But, unlike when I looked yesterday, the more recent comments look more condemnatory of the 'taxi' driver rather than the complainant. But the views are still, er, a tad binary rather than, er, nuanced.)

I was highlighting the abnormally high number of stories relating to bad behaviour by members of our trade in this particular locale.

Either the Echo has an anti taxi trade agenda or the trade attracts an abnormally high number of "rotten apples"

Fair point about the Merseyside trade in general terms, a point which of course quite a few of us make from time to time 8-[

On the other hand, maybe cases like this should be judged on their individual merits. There's bad apples in the trade everywhere, and good apples everywhere as well. Of course, it's probable that the average Scouse driver is more likely to be a bad apple than the average driver in [wherever], but that shouldn't prejudice how we view individual cases.

And the trial by media sort of stuff favoured by the likes of the Echo tends to attract a binary audience to the comments section - either the driver or the complainant is the one at fault, and are totally beyond the pale, with little balance or nuance inbetween.

But if readers do regard it as some sort of 'trial' be media, then there was very little in the way of substantive evidence to support the accusations made in the article. So, in my opinion, definitely not guilty [-(

And deffo 'clickbait' from the Echo, too [-X

Didn't really look at it until now and I think the driver was a numpty for engaging with the woman, but I very much suspect the woman caused the issues and is now trying to blame everyone else.

Some would say typical. :-$
