This is the official police press release. Shouldn't be too difficult to trace these three. And I'd be more inclined to use the g-word rather than 'women', but that's probably not allowed And spot the deliberate spelling mistake in the descriptions CCTV released after assault of taxi driver in Bath https://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/n ... r-in-bath/ ![]() Image: Avon and Somerset Police/ITV News Officers have released CCTV following an incident in Bath. The incident happened between 1-2am on Sunday 30 October, where three women got a taxi from Melksham to Snow Hill. After their payment card was declined, the offenders attempted to walk off without paying. When challenged by the driver, they proceeded to punch, kick and chase him. The driver sustained a broken ankle and damage to his car. He received hospital treatment and is now recovering at home. Officers believe the three women in the CCTV above have information which could aid their investigation into the incident. They are described as:
• A while woman, of medium build, with black hair. She is also seen wearing a black puffed coat with black leggings. • A white woman, of slim build, with black hair. She wore a black puffed coat with a fur hood and a dark skirt. If you can identify these three women, please contact 101 and quote reference 5222260900 to the call handler. |

Quote: Officers believe the three women in the CCTV above have information which could aid their investigation into the incident. Quite funny in a way, but not sure if I really like this kind of stuff or not. Of course, the roundabout way of putting it is all to do with police not being able to say that they're the main suspects for legal reasons, or whatever. But, I mean, what will 99.9% of the population think, irrespective of the fact that police don't directly accuse them?

Don't know, Edders, but that one's maybe regarded as old-fashioned these days. Anyway, it's that slow news time of year again. And I'm a bit anoraky about these things, but it's interesting how the Somerset Live website has rehashed the police press release. Most obviously questionable thing - and consistent with the point above - is that the headline effectively says the women did it, but then uses the more conventional a-word in the text (highlighted), which police didn't use And for anyone who's not aware, there's a bit of a debate around whether the words black and white (as describing people) should be capitalised. Unsurprisingly, people calling themselves, for example, 'progressives' (or what opponents might call 'woke') think the word black should be capitalised, but white shouldn't Consistent with that, Somerset Live has capitalised the word 'Black', but not 'white' Somerset and Avon police didn't use any capitals at all in that regard, using simply 'black' and 'white'. But so preoccupied was the website with capitalising the word Black, the sentence the word is in simply doesn't make sense (highlighted). Likewise, the police misspelling of 'while woman' isn't corrected And the sentence describing the third person unnecessarily uses the word 'woman' twice (highlighted). But the word Black has been capitalised, which was obviously the priority Taxi driver 'punched, kicked and chased' after challenging three women who did not pay https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/loc ... ed-7909708 The driver was left with a broken ankle and damage to his car Three women are alleged to have assaulted a taxi driver after he challenged them for walking off without paying. Meanwhile, ITV News has also gone for an 'it was the women wot done it' headline, and like Somerset Live has used the word 'alleged' in the article. But hasn't capitalised the word black, and has managed to correct the misspelling 'while woman' But check out the clunky way the descriptions are introduced (highlighted). Bath taxi driver left with broken ankle and damaged car after assault by three women https://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/20 ... hree-women A taxi driver has been left with a broken ankle and a damaged car after a group of women allegedly assaulted him in his vehicle in Bath. Police say the attackers had ordered a taxi from Melksham to Snow Hill, Calne, between 1-2am on Sunday 30 October. After their payment card was declined, the trio attempted to walk off without paying but were soon challenged by the driver. In response they punched, kicked, and chased him, Avon and Somerset Police officers say. He received hospital treatment and is now recovering at home. Officers from the force would like to speak to the three women pictured in the CCTV images to help with their investigation. A spokesperson for the force said: "A black woman, of slim build, with black hair. She is shown wearing a black puffed coat and black jeans. "A white woman, of medium build, with black hair. She is also seen wearing a black puffed coat with black leggings. "A white woman, of slim build, with black hair. She wore a black puffed coat with a fur hood and a dark skirt." Anyone with information is being urged to contact Avon and Somerset Police. |

edders23 wrote: understatement of the year it's your main hobby !Meant to say, Edders, how do you know what I'm doing during the other 18 hours of the day I'm awake? Wouldn't call it a hobby, precisely. More an extension of work But I'm online all the time nowadays, or at least during the time that I'd previously have watched TV, looked through the newsapers or read a book. Don't have a TV now, don't buy newspapers, and it's a while since I've done any serious book reading. I'm well connected (in the internet sense!), and even when I'm in the car it's unusual to actually be driving for more than two or three hours, so plenty of spare time to do this, that and the next thing online. Posting on here is like flicking channels back in the day
