So much for the Glasgow private hire operator market being a safer place nowadays

You would stand a better chance trying to start a security firm

Glasgow is ok as long as you work for the dominating PH company.

Let's hope the 'powers that be' get their fingers out and license operating bases.

Then hopefully some of the iffy folk will not be deemed 'fit and proper'.

Big TAXI WARS headline on the front of the Scottish Sun today. I don't normally buy it but it was only 10p

I don't think the story is on the web and I can't be bothered typing it all, but some extracts:

A bitter taxi turf war is threatening to erupt into a wave of bloody violence - after a cab boss's luxury hoem was blasted by a gunman.

Underworld sources last night revelaed the fierce battle for control of of the multi-million pound trade.

Last night one gangland insider revealed: "It's hot and getting hotter. There's a big battle going down and a lot of heavies are involved. This is going to get nasty.

A rival firms is thougth to have arrancted the revenge attacck after an incident involving one of their vehicles earlier this month.

But some firms have been investigated by cops and the INland Revenue over alleged money laundering linked to drugs and armed robberies.

Notorious Glasgow crimelord Tam "the Licensee" McGraw has been linked to a string of minicab takeovers.

Airdrie Taxis complained to the local MP John Reid after being approached and the Home Secretary has promised to investigate. One driver said: "Thinks are getting very nasty. People have been threatened".

"These guys don't mess about. If you don't agree with their terms the next offer is the one you don't want to hear.."

Another cab firms owner added:"We know what will happen if we refuse to budge."

No mate, I don't

As you may know, here in Glasgow with most types of business that make "easy" money, that can get rid of "dirty money" (i.e Security, Ice Cream vans etc etc) - it's a case of if "they" want it - they will get it no matter what.

Not saying I agree with this, just saying thats what happens here most of the time.
