Female taxi driver punched by teenager in Dunfermline

A FEMALE taxi driver was punched by a teenager after a crowd blocked the road outside a Dunfermline bar.

The assailant was Finlay Whytock, now 20, formerly of McBaith Way, Dunfermline, and now of Wellbank Place, Rattray, Blairgowrie.

He admitted that on July 9 last year, at Canmore Street, he assaulted a woman by punching her on the head.

Depute fiscal Amy Robertson said that the incident occurred at around 11pm when the taxi driver was travelling along Canmore Street.

There were between 50 and 100 people standing about on the road and pavement at the time outside a bar.

The driver opened her door in an effort to stop people hitting the side of her car.

The door struck Whytock on the upper body and he responded by punching the driver to the face.

He later told police: “She hit me first”.

Defence solicitor Jamie Baxter said his client had been knocked “sprawling to the ground” by the car door.

Sheriff Lindsay Foulis fined Whytock £520.

This is a related article from Bournemouth, which was published at the same time. Not related in any obvious sense, and the trade just gets a passing mention. But read between the lines, and it might become obvious, particularly to night drivers :-k


Cameras plan to catch cars breaking Bournemouth town centre ban

NEW cameras could be installed to shop motorists breaking an overnight motor vehicle ban in part of Bournemouth town centre.

Plans have been announced to introduce civil enforcement powers for traffic contraventions in roads around Horseshoe Common.

BCP Council has launched the consultation ahead of submitting an application to the transport secretary.

If approved, the local authority would be able to issue penalty charge notices for vehicles failing to comply with traffic regulation orders.

Initially, the council wants to use these powers for the existing restriction in sections of Dean Park Crescent, Fir Vale Road, Hinton Road, Lorne Park Road, Madeira Road, Old Christchurch Road and St Peter’s Road around or near the open space.

The traffic regulation order states that motor vehicles are prohibited from these roads between 10pm and 5am every night of the week. This is in place due to pedestrian footfall associated with the night-time economy.

The council says non-compliance has been an issue for some time.

Government approval would allow BCP Council to enforce breaches of the restriction and they plan to monitor the situation by using automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras. Six possible camera locations have been identified.

Councillor Mike Greene, portfolio holder for sustainability and transport, said: “This is a positive opportunity for us to take stronger action against drivers who are accessing this area in Bournemouth town centre during the restricted hours of 10pm to 5am.

"This is now the opportunity for the community to have their say on proposed enforcement, along with any further suggestions or ideas.”

The council’s consultation on the proposal is now live, with residents, organisations and businesses able to submit comments up to January 27.

If BCP Council’s application is successful, enforcement could commence in 2023.

At this point, enforcement would only be for the order near Horseshoe Common. However, going forward, the council would then be able to consider additional enforcement locations, subject to further consultation.

I think that's the giveaway - it's about pishheads walking about on the road and coming off the pavement in front of moving traffic, and it's easier to ban the drivers than deal with these 'revellers' :?

But, I mean, "pedestrian footfall associated with the night-time economy". Talk about understatement :lol: ](*,)

One of the many reasons the Sussex mobile never works nights.

My tolerance level is zero, so best I stay well away.
