Thought police blowing their own trumpet here with the stuff about 'eagle-eyed' officers and 'meticulous examinations' which unearthed a couple of defective tyres
But looks like it was the Gazette who put the more positive spin on things, and the official police stuff on Facebook played a pretty straight bat (below the main article).
And maybe if all they found was a couple of defective tyres then they weren't that meticulous and eagle-eyed after all, and the Gazette is just being sarcastic
I mean, if a number of the vehicles needed taken off the road because of tyre defects, then it's amazing absolutely nothing else was found

VEHICLES entrusted with transporting passengers around Colchester were taken off the road after eagle-eyed police officers spotted tyre defects.
Officers from the Colchester Community Policing Team, working in collaboration with Colchester Council, were deployed throughout the city on Thursday.
They were tasked with inspecting taxis and private hire vehicles which operate around the area to ensure they met safety standards.
According to the force, their meticulous examinations resulted in a “small number of vehicles” having to be removed from the road after they were deemed unsafe.
The tyres on the vehicles in question were found to be in a poor condition by officers and therefore posed a risk to both drivers and passengers.
A spokesman for Essex Police Colchester said: “This operation is aimed at keeping people safe by ensuring the vehicles are in good order and the drivers are complying with their licences.
“A small number of vehicles were taken off the road for tyre defects, and all drivers were provided with some crime prevention advice.
“If you have any concerns about the safety of any taxis or private hire vehicles or drivers please tell Essex Police.
