Looks like the 'taxi wars' got a bit out of hand here :-o

Got off pretty lightly as well, I'd say :roll:


Former owner of Harlow taxi company escapes jail over possession of firearm and other offences

THE FORMER owner of a Harlow taxi company has escaped jail after pleading guilty to a number of offences.

Kevin Harris, aged 56, of, Flitch Green, Dunmow made the plea at Chelmsford Crown Court last week.

He pleaded guilty to the following:

On February 1st, 2019 at Essex had in your possession a firearm namely a WALTHER CP 88 cal 4.5mm/.177 Air Gun/Pistol air weapon, with intent by means thereof to cause a male to believe that unlawful violence would be used against him or another.

On February 1st, 2019 at Dunmow had in your custody or under your control 4 x Green Containers filled with Petrol intending without lawful excuse to use the same or to cause or permit another to use the same to damage property, namely ABC Cars – 12 Horsecroft Place, Harlow belonging to Nick Jones in a way which you knew was likely to endanger the life of Employees of ABC Cars.

On January 31st, 2019 at Dunmow had in your custody or under your control 4 x Green containers containing petrol intending without lawful excuse to use the same or to cause or permit another to use the same to damage property, namely ABC Cars – 12 Horsecroft Place, Harlow belonging to Nick Jones in a way which you knew was likely to endanger the life of Employees of ABC Cars.

He was given thirty weeks imprisonment suspended for nine months.

He will have to undertake a rehabilitation activity requirement for 15 days

He has had a restraining order imposed on him for twelve months.

Harris was the former owner of Metro Cars.

Got off pretty lightly I'd say, but someone in the comments still isn't happy :o

seriously though you don't acquire weapons unless you are thinking of using them. I am not sure he did get off light as he never actually committed the arson and now has no business a criminal record which I would have thought precludes him form holding a badge and at his age is going to struggle to find a job.

Indeed many people have done a lot worse, and they are in prison, where this fella isn't.

The fact that he was never going to use it (so his mate says) is irrelevant. He was charged with and pleaded guilty to possession.
