The official Sussex Police appeal doesn't mention the t-word at all, and just says a man has been arrested.

And the Argus doesn't say the arrested man is a taxi driver, but says a taxi was forensically examined and seized, therefore...

It was certainly the right time of night for a taxi-related incident, although looks like it happened at a more rural/village spot a few miles out of Brighton & Hove :?

Arrest after 'possible hit and run' which left man dead on road - police seize taxi

https://www.theargus.co.uk/news/2353262 ... -hassocks/

A man has been arrested after another man was hit and killed by a car.

The man, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene at around 12.40am this morning in Clayton Hill near Hassocks.

A 59-year-old man from Hove has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop after a road accident.

He remains in custody at this time.

Police officers arrived at Poynings Drive in Hove at around 11am and took pictures of the underside of a taxi.

A witness said that forensics were taking swabs of the taxi at 3pm before it was taken away around an hour later.

Sussex Police confirmed their investigation in Poynings Drive was linked to the death near Hassocks.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

Police are appealing for any information, or anyone who saw the man in the area around that time. They would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have captured relevant dash cam footage in the vicinity of Clayton Hill.

Anyone with information is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk or call 101 quoting Operation Bicester.

I think someone has just made a ridiculously stupid mistake by not stopping and phoning emergency services

They will reap the whirlwind

Defo a B&H licensed vehicle.

Biggest mistake any driver can make is not stopping.

Third such incident in 18 months.
