Not much to see here, but what's the betting this is just considered newsworthy because it involved a taxi firm?

At least the photo shows the extensive damage that required the car to be written-off

A couple has been left hundreds of pounds out of pocket after a taxi crashed into the back of their car last year.

Sarah Braden, a pensioner living in Eaton, was rear-ended on December 14 by a driver of Five Star Taxis.

The incident, which required Sarah's husband Paul to be taken to hospital with back pains, happened as they were joining Newmarket Road from the Eaton slip road on their way into Norwich.

Nearly six months later though and Mrs Braden is still waiting on an insurance excess pay-out for hundreds of pounds, after issues with the taxi firm's insurance documents.

Five Star Taxis however say that the insurance documents have now been handed over.

Mrs Braden said: "The car was a write-off so, ironically, I was taking taxis around to go shopping which cost money.

"Eventually we had to borrow a car from a friend of a friend to get us through the Christmas period because my husband can't get around by himself.

"The whole situation is terribly frustrating because it's taking so long to get resolved.

"I feel as though I'm trying to deal with everything by myself for the last six months - if things don't get sorted soon then the insurance company could drop the claim."

A spokesman for Five Star Taxis, located in Prince of Wales Road, said: "A police officer came round yesterday (May 22) and I provided the relevant insurance documents to them."

A police spokeswoman confirmed the incident last year, saying: "Police were called to a two-vehicle collision along the slip road at Eaton, with the A11 Newmarket Road, heading toward Norwich at 5.05pm on December 14, 2022.

"The passenger of the Fiat went to hospital for back pain (not via ambulance)."
